Delta-8 THC vs. HHC

As extraction technology gets better and better, we’re going to continue to see new cannabinoid infusions in more products as the market matures. There are many cannabinoids to choose from, so it is important to understand the differences and how they work before making a decision about which one we should use. Let’s learn more about HHC, one of the most popular minor cannabinoids available.
What is HHC?
HHC, also known as Hexahydrocannabinol, is a naturally occurring cannabinoid that can be found in hemp. First, extract the CBD from the hemp biomass. The CBD is then converted to HHC through a proprietary process known as hydrogenation. This alters the molecular structure of HHC to make it more similar to THC. This results in a more cohesive binding process with the receptors of our endocannabinoid systems, which allows us to get high as THC.
Is HHC the Same as Delta-8?
Although HHC and Delta-8 THC may be similar in that they are both cannabinoids that are hemp-derived and psychoactive, they are not identical. Each cannabinoid is completely different and each has its own unique properties, which will result in a totally different experience.
How each cannabinoid is made determines the differences between HHC and Delta-8. Both HHC and Delta-8, which are minor cannabinoids in hemp, are not present in large quantities like you would expect from CBD or Delta-9 THC. To make your beloved Uplift products, both HHC and Delta-8 must be converted from one of the more abundant cannabinoids.
Delta-8 is often extracted using acids and solvents. This chemical reaction converts CBD to Delta-8. The THC from CBD is first saturated with hydrogen atoms and then exposed to metals to start the reaction that creates HHC. Two types of byproducts can be created from chemical reactions: HHC or Delta-8 THC.
Another key difference between HHC and Delta-8 is that HHC has a newly attached hydrogen atom, making it much more stable and less sensitive to heat and ultraviolet light than other forms. HHC can be added to edibles and will not lose its potency if it is left on the shelf for too long.
